About Me

I am Poonam Shenoy, a counseling psychologist in private practice, offering a safe, confidential space for individuals and couples to explore their thoughts, emotions, and relationships.

Training & Credentials

I hold a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology from Indira Gandhi National Open University (UGC Recognised, NAAC Accredited) and a full-time Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance and Counseling from SIES Institute of Comprehensive Education, affiliated to Mumbai University — where I was honoured with both the Essar Endowment Award and the S. Subramaniam Award for academic excellence.

I deepened my clinical skills through an internship at Inspira Counseling Services and an observership at the Institute of Psychological Health, Thane, where I worked on complex casework under the supervision of seasoned professionals. I have received extensive training in evidence-based therapies including CBT, REBT, ACT, Gottman Couple Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Therapy.

My approach is grounded in empathy, thoughtful listening, and evidence-informed practices including CBT, REBT, ACT, Gottman Couple Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Therapy. I work collaboratively, at a pace that suits you, with a focus on meaningful and sustainable change.

A Journey Shaped by Two Worlds

Before transitioning into psychology, I spent nearly a decade in international banking with HSBC across Dubai and India — an experience that shaped my understanding of professional pressure, conflict resolution, and emotional containment. These themes continue to inform my therapeutic work today.

Who I Work With

I work with individuals navigating anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. I also work with couples, and extend my practice to the maritime sector — supporting seafarers of various ranks and nationalities in high-stress, isolating environments through individual counseling, psychoeducational workshops on stress and emotional regulation, and behavioural assessments.

I also work with NRI clients globally, accommodating sessions across time zones.
